JP KOCH

JP is a dynamic individual, shifting from laid-back to intense in the blink of an eye. A good friend once said about him that he has the freest, most playful little boy in his heart he has ever met, (which he meant as a compliment!)

Raised in a blue-collar family passionate about winter sports, he started skiing at three and found his passion on a snowboard early on. With dreams of going pro, he lived a full-send lifestyle, but a severe crash at a contest left him with a broken back. This was a wake-up call, leading him to a discipleship movement in Germany’s youth and subculture in his early twenties. JP embraced this raw, real movement, boldly sharing Jesus even in crazy situations like squatted houses full of left-wing extremists, and getting beaten up for it. But it was all worth it as he witnessed God at work, transforming lives and building HIS church among the fringes of society. Besides being a leader in the movement, he co-founded Europe’s first Christian snowboard camp, sparking an ongoing action sports ministry in Germany and studied at a seminary to get prepared for cross-cultural missions.

Married to an amazing wife for 20 years, raising two rad kids, JP has been in Japan for 17 years, planting a church from scratch, building a community, and launching the Action Sports ACTS Network there. Their focus is on equipping the next generation through discipleship, coaching, and mentoring, preparing for missional businesses and revival. JP’s heart is for the kingdom, and he believes the best is yet to come.
