Laura Matera serves as the Executive Vice President of FCA Action Sports. Her journey with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes began in 2002, when she and her husband, Joe, pioneered surf ministry along the coast of New Jersey. After Joe’s passing in 2013, Laura joined FCA staff full time.

Laura has  served in local and regional director roles, and now provides global leadership within the action sports community. Her role focuses on creating environments that offer athletes the opportunity to encounter Christ where they live, play, and compete.

With a background in social work and a Master’s in Counseling from Liberty University, Laura is passionate about walking alongside leaders—locally, regionally, and globally—as they grow in Christ, serve, and lead in their communities.

She finds deep joy in early morning coffee and quiet time with Jesus, solid workouts, long walks, hosting guests like family, and swimming in the sea. Laura has three adult daughters and three sons-in-laws.
